Anyone else out there have one of these??
I like the ease of setup..
Thoughts?

I think the general consensus is that they're quite a bit heavier than ideal for long-distance hiking.

Ok outside of the fact that the general consensus they are to heavy for long-distance hiking... anyone that has one what are your thoughts...
BTW my girl and I hike together.. thus the larger size tent ....
do a search for the tent name on here. look for a thread a year or two old by a hiker named socrates. read it, there will be your answer.
The size you are after does not require a 5lb 7oz tent. The main thing I see is a problem with most single wall tents which is a lack of ventilation. In the summer it will be hot and humid inside not to mention the condensation. If it is raining not only will your gear not dry but it most likely pick up moisture. Out west with lower humidities these styles work better.
Creative idea with the "moon beams" support structure though.

HONEST ANSWER, bought tent set up indoors, was a pain didn,t like the thick air bladder supports, was infatuated with the idea of no poles, set up outside, the came along a rainstorm, tent leaked ,water came in lower vent, also water come in whe you open tent.didn,t like tent , this tent was not easy on me,very expensive, untried unproven,a loser, bulky when packed, front entrance zipper, not easy to use, other complaints to numerous to mention,I hope you get another tent.

Jim that was painfully honest but probably one of the best, to the point reviews I have ever read.

Backpacker said it was coolest new technology in tents for 2007 . Don't know if yours is a Morpho AR like the one they reviewed . But at $ 445 OUCH ! I thinking you could buy 3 good tents for that price .

Well, 3 weeks later and I'm back at home now...
For the record, I sent my Nemo Morpho tent home and got a Six Moon Designs Europa... Much lighter and did the job. I never would have believed that a tent could be stable with a trekking pole for support, but it is. Ya live and learn.
Alot of people told me my pack was heavy, but I think it was just bulky because of the size pack. Once I got the weight issues figured out, I weighed it in at 35lbs with 3 days of food and 2 water bottles. I tried to go for a lighter pack, but they told me I was still too heavy to be comfortable with one so oh well. At least, that's what they said at NOC.
...
We remember that thread very well. Poor Socrates copped a lot of flack over his Morpho. Unfortunately I tried to sooth his feelings by posting some kind comments forgetting that sometime you have to be cruel to be kind, but in the right measure. Of course when everybody told him that it was too heavy for a throu what they meant was that , well it is too heavy for a throu...

I've never thru-hiked, and doubt I ever will, though I may well wind up sectioning the whole trail before I slip away. But that said, the 2 to 3 lb difference between a Morpho and a lighter shelter can't be the primary blame for not completing a thru. If the weight of equipment alone could be blamed, no one hiking prior to the days of silnylon and titanium would have ever stood a chance.
I just threw the post up there for easier reference since it was cited.
I actually like the general idea/engineering concept behind the tent, but as Jim pointed out, the design could use quite a few refinements.

Thanks Franco - now I can't get that song out of my head.....
Me thinks that volume is important as well. Bigger tent= bigger pack=heavier pack. Heavier pack=heavier boots....

You are correct. I thought that it was from the Bible...
You gotta be cruel to be kind in the right measure
Cruel to be kind, it's a very good sign
Cruel to be kind, means that I love you
Ba-by, you gotta be cruel to be kind
