View Full Version : best way to get from NJ to GA?
bus? airplane? train?
Can anyone advise what would be the best way to get to Springer from NJ? Should I fly to Atlanta, and if so, where do I go from there? take a train to Gainsville? ride a bus?
Thank you and Happy Trails,

I am also coming from South NJ area.... I did some research...
To take amtrak from 30th st in Philly is 17 hours and about 82$.
To Fly out of Philly its 2 1/2 hours and 102$.
Once you get down to Atlanta there are some articles on what to do.

You can fly to Atlanta and then get a shuttle from there to Springer or ASP. Most shuttlers will have you take the Marta rail to the northernmost stop. I recommend the Hiker Hostels thru hiker special. They'll pick you up at the Marta station, take you to the hostel for the night, feed you breakfast, and then shuttle you to Springer or ASP. $70.
You can take the train to Gainesville and then get a shuttle. Train arrives in the morning so you don't need to spend the night in a hostel unless you want to.
You can take the bus if you want to be miserable.

OK, great.
thank you all for the responses. I feel better oriented now. Looks like flying would be the way to go for me.

AMTRAK or airplane if it's cheaper
Send me a personal message and I'll put you in touch with a friend in Atlanta who can shuttle you to Springer.
