I'm looking for a light jacket that can take me down to cold temps in camp.
Anyone use this jacket and how cold have you used it and stayed comfortable.
I want to get more winter hiking in.

I have the inner down parka. It's a great piece of gear. It keeps you comfortable from ~40+, and takes the bite out of the cold to 30*. I carry it much more often than my WM Vapor jacket.

I am getting one of these. I haven't heard many complaints but it'd be nice to try one on. From what I understand, folks say to get one size larger than you would normally.

Alot depends on what you mean by cold. I see you're fron SC. You're idea of cold might be different than somebody from maine.
I have the Alpine light jacket. I've been comfortable in the teens this winter, with windchills colder than that.
Everybody states that the MB runs small. With that in mind, I went a size larger and it fits me great. I'll be taking it this morning on my way up Unaka Mt.

I love mine, but be careful around the campfire...sparks will melt it fast. Also you would need a shell over it to hike, because it would tear on branches easily.

i've got one and i love it, no regrets. comfortable down to freezing by itself. wore it with cap 4's and a windjacket down in the windy single digits just fine. i wear it hiking by itself but i do watch out for any branches grabbing it. easy to wash, just be prepared that it's gonna get snags and little rips no matter what you do. the fabric's pretty thin. i still look around at other stuff but nothing's even remotely made me want to trade it in.

I use mine regularly, excellent jacket! I have not had a problem with tearing with it, but I'm sure you could if you were bushwhacking :)

I love this jacket. I wore it under a marmot driclime windshirt as I went over Max Patch last December. Temp read 11 degrees with 30-40 wind. Kept me warm with no problem. It's such a versatile jacket - i love it

Yes, versatiel is the word, nice to scrunch up around your feet in your sleeping bag too if needed, or underneath you if you're in a cold spot. :)

Excellent jacket. The only one I carry on my trips these days.

The UL Liner jacket insulates about the same as a sweater or thick sweatshirt. I would not consider it a winter coat.

It blocks the wind better than a sweater or sweatshirt

True.

I should have said a sweater with a light, Golite type windshirt over it.

Thanks All.
I just need something light as an additional layer when I stop hiking and the temps get down under freezing/teens. Need to extend my hiking into winter/ Southern AT.
