I am planning a hike with my wife and another couple ending in Erwin next month. Is there a nice Inn or Bed and Breakfast type place in Erwin? The two wives require different arrangement than when I go by myself:)

There should be some B&Bs in Erwin. Clayton's is the only one I ever heard of. Erwin has Holiday Inn Express. There are some mountain cabins you can rent around the area. One is Spivey Falls cabin near Spivey Gap/US19W crossing. Johnny's does have small cabin rooms if you want to lodge them right off the trail. But I am thinking there might be some around Wolf Laurel, since its a ski resort, and Mars Hill, a small college town; both just inside NC.

Other than that, Jonesborough is about 30 minutes north on TN81, and its B&B heaven.

You could come on down to Burnsville. About as far as Mars Hill would be. I live in Burnsville and go to Mars Hill College. We have a few cabins for rent in our area and your really close to Mount Mitchell for some day hikes.

Yeah Clayton's Dogwood Inn is the only B&B. They have "reasonable" hiker rates. Along with the Holiday Inn Express, there's also a Motel 8

I concur, and think you would score a boat load of wife-points with a Jonesbourgh stay.
Plus I think they have a micro-brewery there too.:D

Darn right they have a microbrewery. Depot Street beer is a staple at TEHCC events.

Holiday Inn is very nice. Not too far from the trail.
