I own two of them; don't have any complaints with them.
Thanks for the info. Campmor does have some good deals on a couple of filters, and jrwiesz's link is the cheapest I think I've seen for that filter. It is looking like I'll probably go with a Katadyn base camp filter for about $57.20 shipped. I'm going to look around a little more first though and also give people time to respond.

Emergency Essentials (https://beprepared.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_WP%20F150_A_name_E_%5B%5BProduc tNameURL%5D%5D) sometimes has some decent prices and according to the catalog I just received, they are running a group special on the Katadyn Hiker for only 45.00.
The catch is you have to buy 6 but if there are some other folks out there that want in on it, that could be an option.
At regular price, they are pretty easily beaten elsewhere, but their specials are pretty reasonable.

I have a Katadyn Guide. Although it's no longer made, it sold me on the company's quality. I also just got a MSR Miox. Cool little unit. You might want to check into those too.
