I know a few companies are making these now, and am looking for one if someone has one for sale.

no problem mongoose. I should be more specific and say isobutane lanterns. The small ones made by Brunton, Snowpeak, and Peak. Along with any others like this. They screw onto MSR and the like stove canisters.

Roger that! Here is the F1 Cannister lantern that I have....it works very well ($54.00)! Good luck on your hunt!

Is the top of that lantern flat enough to use as a stove? I have a Primus that I like, but would sure like to have one to cook with too. Sorry mntkngxt about asking a question on your post.

The price on the Coleman one must have come down:

Looks like a winner with the mesh globe. I've broken several glass globes on my car camping Coleman lanterns.
I had a Primus once, but it was a gas hog. Burned twice as much gas in the same amount of time as my Vargo stove.

I snagged this Primus Micron Lantern for $40 on Steepandcheap (http://www.steepandcheap.com/) and I love it. Piezoelectric ignitor works after one click and the mantle is bright enough for me.

It comes with little steel cables attached to the unit so you can hang it anywhere... The top gets super hot, I'm trying to figure out a way where i can use it to warm up water too while it's lit (I like my water warm, I don't need to boil it every damn time I want something to drink.)
