More land added to our world. I will have to check this place out.
Are there any good long loops in this area?

Ahh, Fiery Gizzard, the site of hottest hike of my life. I was 3 inches from the sun. I think Bearpaw (the Nashville one) knows a lot about this area. I am sure he will chime in about a long loop.
There are a couple of good loops in Savage Gulf, North Rim and North Plateau trails to
Hobbs cabin from the Savage Ranger station side of the area. Also the Collins trail on the south side combining several different loop possibilities. Be sure to check out the Stone Door area and it has a couple of different options for loop hikes.
As for the Fiery Gizzard trail it is mostly linear except for the Day loop on the north end. Be sure to check out Foster Falls and the coke ovens near Tracy City. I gotta get back over there soon.
What a great place to go. Man I really do miss savage gulf. Good times, good times

In general English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_language) usage, long is the adjectival (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adjectival) form of length (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Length). It may also refer to: a hike that is long enough to require 4-5 days or more to complete. Usually refering to trails or loop trails that are 50 + miles in length.
hooty I might be wrong but I dont think that there is. What a great place to hike!

That's a true gem of a pocket wilderness. I do recall hearing that the private landowners that own the campsite near Raven Point now longer allow camping. I met one of the relatives of the owners one summer when he was out for a walk and he was very nice. Hopefully the state can get that land and preserve it.
TTA has a lot of big plans for the Cumberlands and they are doing some good work, from the Cumberland Trail to linking up a lot of smaller parks (opening up longer backpacking routes) and snatching up land for the state like mad.
