View Full Version : Fishing on the AT?
Are there places on the AT to do any fishing? Especially from Springer - Virginia. Has anybody tried this before? I figured a minimum of stuff (few yards of line and a couple of hooks, maybe 1/2oz total) you could enjoy some fresh fish occaionally. There has to be tons of places where trout and bluegill are plentiful.
There are plenty of threads on this subject. Use the search function and type in fishing. The general concensus is that it isn't worth having to buy licenses from all the states that the trail passes through, and that carrying extra weight in fishing gear (though it seems that you have a good handle on keeping it light and compact) isn't worth the effort.
I think that you will have to do some blue blazing to get to some good spots. I was disappointed I thought there would be tons of place but not to many. But I was there to hike so I might have tried harder if I was there to fish.
Het Tinker I just noticed your from Warwick, I went to college there at Johnson and Wales, I loved it there. I worked at the Radisson across from the Airport, and won't to go back and visit.

You loved it here, but won't come back and visit?
I don't love it so much here, but my mom, who just moved into an apartment across the bay, still needs some family nearby to keep her company (and church, more for my wife than me, keeps us here, too).
You're welcome to visit if you're so inclined. Nothing like a jumbo jet flying over to make your day.......
