Hope to spend a few days next week on this 55 mile section.
There are a few sections above 3000 feet and I'm guessing there may be snow and ice?
Anyone know if the parkway is open?

Thanks!

No snow anywhere. Five flakes today. And I saw my first robin three days ago. :(

We've had more than our fair share here in Ohio and I wont be too disappointed if the mountains stay clear. The forecast looks like it will stay cold enough to get a little the next few days. We'll stay tuned.

Does the parkway stay open in February?

I just hiked Pearisburg to Atkins. For the first 4 days there was no evidence it had ever snowed all year and the trail is dry. Monday there were light flurries most of the morning - just enough for a dusting in some places and nothing in others.

Wow, I wonder if water will be a problem? Looks like there is a big rain system rolling through VA this morning.
