View Full Version : Duofold info?
I am looking for some really good base layer stuff, and someone recommended Duofold to me. Does anyone know anything else about their stuff?
Thanks!
I've been using their T-shirts and boxers for several years. They work great and dry out fast.

I used the wool/cotton duofold back in the 70s. It was great for whitewater canoe work when I knew I was going to get wet.
I am trying another wool product this year, IBEX Ribbed Woolies. They are light and very smooth/warm feeling.
Being tested on BGT right now:

I use the single layer mid-weights (they also make a dual layer midweight) to sleep in. And as a base layer while hiking in very cold weather (<25F). They have held up well.
Quite a few scouts use them as they are rather inexpensive and hold up.

I use Duofold CoolMax Alta shirts (long- and short-sleeve) when I hike. They seem to wick better than the Patagonia Capilene material and REI MTS material, and they seem to dry out a heck of a lot faster.
I have several Duofold garments and highly recommend them. Keep you cool in the heat, and warm when a bit chilly. Good stuff.

Like Kerosene I use the Duofold coolmax long tees and love them, will pick up some short tees when the short tees I presently use wear out. I also have a classic Duofold long henley tee with coolmax as the base and merino wool as the second layer. Just that tee under a rain shell has kept me toasty while hiking in the high teens with 40 mph winds. My only complaint is I can't wear it very often.
Watch Sierra Traders and Campmor -you can often get these products at a very good price, sometimes with logos or odd colors but who cares.

Good substitute for the name brands, such as Patagonia and Marmot. And at less than half the price. Check out their new Hydrid series of t-shirts.

Duofold is great. I just wish they would come out with some different colors. I hate having to hike in a rain jacket but when I have to I applaud Coolmax.
Capilene and Coolmax are worth their weight in gold.

Duofold has worked very well for me and mine. But the best feature is that it is comfy. Not itchy like some products. Very comfy against the skin.
These folks have Coolmax T-shirts for $13.95. Privately Labeled - Sewn in USA. I just got two. The quality looks very good. They are cut generously. Very comfortable, not itchy.

My husband and I have several Duofold shirts, and we love them. They are a great base layer and dry quickly. In the winter I wear one of them with a fleece jacket and a down jacket when hiking and sometimes have to remove the down. In the summer, I just wear the duofold. It wicks moisture away and dries quickly.
