That's a fancy way of saying "I don't know." Cabin Fever 02-17-2009, 12:41 I think it's Big Cataloochee based on the direction I am assuming you are looking. Mount Sterling would be just out of the picture to the left. Gray Blazer 02-17-2009, 14:14 Mt. Sterling is to the right. I don't really know. I'm guessing Hemphill Bald. Cabin Fever 02-17-2009, 14:57 Hemphill Bald makes sense if Mount Sterling is on the right. EAnderson 02-17-2009, 15:27 The ridge in the foreground looks to be the ridge that drops down to Big Creek Ranger Station. Chestnut Branch would flow up the valley between Cammerer and that first ridge. Sterling is the second larger ridge, so the view is looking out of the park towards I-40 in a SE direction. Hemphill Bald would be to the right out of this picture, to the south. I'm not sure if Hemphill could be seen over Mt. Sterling or the Sterling Ridge. I'll be there Saturday and if it is clear, I'll see if I can see Hemphill from Cammerer. BR360 02-17-2009, 16:17 I Google mapped it to make sure. 5662 hootyhoo 02-17-2009, 16:45 Can't spell it but that is it. hootyhoo 02-17-2009, 16:48 You meant the one in the distance - I thought you meant the one where the picture was taken from. BR360 02-17-2009, 16:48 Huh? :-? OP wanted to know the name of the mountain in the picture, not the place from which the picture was taken.. Gray Blazer 02-17-2009, 18:20 I Google mapped it to make sure. 5662 Dang, that was my second guess. HikerMan36 02-18-2009, 08:30 I knew someone out there would know. Thanks for the information WhiteBlazers:) |
