I'm looking for the biggest squirt bottle to hold alcohol that would fit inside my Kmart grease pot. Anybody have suggestions where to look or what do ya'll do with your alcohol bottles?

Also, how much alc do you normally carry? (for the coke can stove types)

I might just carry the whole bottle of Heet and stow it elsewhere in my pack.

Depends on how efficient your stove is vs how long you'll be out vs how often you cook.

Some of the more inefficient stoves are about 1oz to bring water to a boil. So that should be your worst-case-scenario. Figure 2-3 times you'll be boiling water (some people don't even cook food at all.) I "boil" water twice a day, I don't actually bring it to a boil, I bring it to Hot.

A small 6oz container like a Dr. Bronners soap container is near perfect for this application.

I found a water bottle that only seems to come in soda machines designed to sell cans. Look for a coke machine for can drinks and see if it sells bottled water. If it does - get it. The bottle fits perfectly down inside my pot (a little smaller than your pot) and holds around 11 ounces. With my stove that is enough for 3 hots a day for over a week.

Why do so many people use those grease pots, arent they bulky and much heavier than aluminum or titanium?

The one I have is aluminum and the same size as most aluminum pots. You must be looking at the wrong one.

My greasepot holds 1.9Liters (I think), is made of aluminum, weighs 3.5oz (with the lid), and cost me 4 bucks. What's not to like?

The only caveat is that it doesn't have one of those folding metal handle things so I can pick it up, I might rig one before my thru. :-?

My grease pot is default go-to pot. I just poked a couple of holes just below the bottom of the lid lip and bent a piece of wire coat-hanger for a bail. That gives me the option to hang that puppy over a wood fire (if I happen to be somewhere I can have one), as well as pick it up without losing skin. :D The weight is trivial, and it curls up inside the pot (if that's what you want) without taking up any space worth considering.

Of course you can always use a bandanna or a glove. . . .

So while I was putting on my shoes after being violated by TSA, I noticed that they had two PERFECT SIZED 8oz squirt bottles they had apparently confiscated from some other poor sap. I asked one of them if I could have them, which met only with an angry stare.

sigh.

It really amazes me that you have discoverd that. It shouldn't, but I am amazed nonetheless.

I actually cruise stores looking at containers. I could care less what is in them. There are so many "disposable" items that make good gear.

I've been known to turn around on a back country road and drive back to where I saw an interesting bottle/container laying in the grass...something that may have a potential use on my hikes. The wife thinks I'm absolutely nuts...most sane people would probably agree. :)

Then you won't get much agreement around here! My GF doesn't get it either. If it's been a few weeks since I've been out I've been known to...
Cook dinner on a alky stove
set up a tent in the house
sleep in the yard
it goes on and on.

She once told me she thought I was a great catch. But all she really did was acquire another kid? I don't get it? :D
