I knew that Hogback was close to where I'm building my new house, but . . . wow! it's really close.

I was up at my property in NC for a couple of days this week.
Here are some pics.

This is where I set up my hammock the first night. This is at the end of the knoll that my shop is on, about 50 yards or so from the back of my shop (looking south . . . away from the AT).

The next day, I went on a hike with my neighbor (pictured here)

We hiked off of my property and onto the AT. Then up to a spot my neighbor referred to as "HighRock" (I believe this is looking toward Erwin)

And then down to Hogback Ridge Shelter

Even going slow and stopping to rest (cuz I'm outta shape), we made it from my shop to Hogback in less than 90 minutes, including a snack stop at the "High Rock" spot.

If I was gonna be up there this weekend, I'd offer to let you stay in my shop (a place out of the rain with a hot shower, fridge, and microwave). :) Sorry.

So you're not going to be there this weekend? That means the place is empty, right? :-?

Cool. We are sectioning this Saturday...in the rain.Be careful. The first time I walked up the ridge, and right around Sugarloaf Gap, I had lightning hit within 100 feet of me. I booked it down in record time.

Nice photos. I'll be sectioning that area sometime in May, and either Hogback or Big Flat will be the first night's resting place.
