So, I've got about a month this summer to get some hiking in. I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions on what's a good section of trail to spend my time. Last year, I set out to thru hike the whole thing but got sidetracked and was only able to hike NH, VT, MA, and CT. So now, it looks like I'll be section hiking at least until I get another chance to try the whole thing again.
Anyway, I'm thinking about going in May, but possibly June or July. Any ideas? Thanks very much.

Or start where you left off in CT and head south. Likely get to Harpers Ferry at least.
June and July gets hot and humid down south.

Agree with Blissful about a continuance of where you left the trail heading SOBO.

That's a good point about the heat. If I end up hiking in May, I like lonestar's suggestion of hiking in the erwin area and heading north, but it would probably be too warm to start there in june or especially july. Another thing i'd like to consider would be where will all the thru-hikers be at this point. It would be nice to have a little company along the way, if i went nobo in may from tenn. i think that would feel about right with where some other nobo's will be hiking around that time. Heading south from CT/NY in june/july would probably be a pretty lonely road.. no?

I have a different take re the heat; once you get into late June, I don't think the heat is worse in Virginia than NY, NJ, and PA. One of my worse memories of AT hiking in extreme uncomfortable humidity was mid-June in NJ. 2 years ago at the ATC conference in mid-July, the humidity was also strong for the day hikes. Remember, the presumable excess heat in Southern locales is offset by the mid-Atlantic's lower elevations and proximity to the ocean.
And IMO and experience, the bugs e.g. mosquitos are worse in CT, NY, & NJ.

Nope.
You'll be going south past the northbound thruhikers.
I've found northbound thruhikers still in PA even in August. Of course many of them had decided to do a flip flop.

I hiked Springer to Damascus in May.
The weather was great.
