I am looking for a utilikilt in 37"-38" waist, 24.5"-25" length. Their website and store all seem to be out on a "smoke break" here lately.

Have you looked at Amerikilts? http://www.amerikilts.com/

I called the guys at Utilikilts and it went kinda like this....."your web site doesn't seem to be working." "Really? wow!" "Can you get me a kilt in this particular fabric that is on your web site?" "No, we haven't carried that type of fabric in years." "Ok, can you get me a kilt in this model and my size?" "No" "Ok, what will it take to get me a kilt in my size (not at all an uncommon size)?" "We can't". "Ok, where can I get one of your kilts in my size and ANY type of fabric?" "Uh, maybe on e-bay?" What are these guys.....like on a permanent smoke break out there in the grunge-land of the northwest? Oh well, looks like the wife will be cobbling something out on her sewing machine for me and keeping things local......what a bunch of bozos!

Maybe they think you are the bozo for wanting one.:D

All in fun...;)

Yeah, I guess that they just aren't all that used to getting legitimate orders from 50 year old guys with stable incomes and a place to live, rather than the typical northwest grunge crowd.....

I've have had a few interactions with Utilikilt not all of them positive, but in the end things worked out.
It's a good, quality product. I have a Survivor model and a Mocker.

The Survivor is great for hiking, bushwhacking and such, but is made of cotton -heavy cotton.
I've used a lighter weight wool tartan cloth ~40" x 15' to make a sort of 1/2 Great Kilt, and it worked pretty well on a 2 day trip through Grayson Highlands last year.
Right now I'm saving me pennies for a full 60" x 15' tartan (of the "Braveheart" pattern) and see how that goes.
Great Kilt (http://www.kilts-n-stuff.com/Kilts/braveheart_great_kilt.html)
I like the Utilikilt, and get a lot of wear out of them, but I'm thinking the properties of wool are going to be a better interface for longer stints on the AT.

I've got a greatkilt that's large enough to use as a blanket or a tent, but need something cooler for these gawd-awful summers down here. Using the Utilikilts online directions for measuring I should be wearing a 24.5-25" length (I'm about 6'2"), but they seem to be hard to find anywhere in that length. What length did you get?

Their measuring directions worked well for me, the waist was a bit generous, but I was losing some weight at the time.
I'll check on the length and get back to ya later.
I will "warn" you, kilts do attract the interest of females.
If you're married, I hope your wife isn't sensitive to the extra attention.
