Question for the Frogg Togg wearers in the crowd--I need a new jacket.

My local store is carrying both Dri-Ducks and Pro-Action Regular Frogg Togg jackets. I surfed their website, but it wasn't specific enough.

It appears the Ducks is lighter (and flimsier) than the Pro series. Given the low replacement cost ($15 for the Ducks), is there any reason I shouldn't get the Dri-Ducks jacket vs. the Pro-Action?

I'm working towards a 16lb skin-out weight on a limited budget, so every ounce and dollar counts. I don't need the pants.

If anyone has an accurate weight for a Mens Large jacket, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks-FF

Depends on the conditions you'll be in. The water repellency and breathability of the two is roughly equivalent, but the Dri-Ducks are more fragile and prone to being damaged by bushwacking, getting caught on a branch, scrambling over blowdowns, etc. I really like the Pro Action and it would be my pick.

Not sure of the weight of the jacket alone, but BPL quotes the weight of the pants and jacket as follows:

Frogg Toggs Pro Action size L: 16 oz
Dri Ducks size L: 12 oz

Though I think this may be slightly understated. My size M Pro Action jacket and pants weigh 16.9 oz.

Bleach - Thanks for info about water resistance. I dug around on BPL, and best guess is that the Duck jacket weighs 6.5oz vs. 9.0oz for the Pro-Action.

I agree on durability. For my specific needs (mountain hiking with very occasional foul weather), the Duck jacket is the right choice. It's a small investment, so if it doesn't work, I'll patch it with duct-tape, and buy the Pro when I return to the big city.

Ditto on the Pro Action. If you get the pants too, consider taping the pocket slits shut, they really leak badly on mine.
