I'll be hanging with the family for about a week in Charleston, S.C. in June. Are there any good dayhikes that one can recommend? Thanks.

You have a number of areas up that way that are open. The Palmetto Trail actually starts in/around the area of North Charleston. You can find all the information you need regarding that and any other trails in SC at: http://www.sctrails.net

Have fun and bring suntan lotion and bug spray. Gotta love the state bird: SC Sandflea

Drive south on 17 and follow the signs to Edisto Island. Call the visitor center before you go and arrange a trip to shell island. It's a bit of a strange arrangement with a local who will take you by boat a drop you off and return for you. You can collect a few shells and you'll have the whole thing to yourself for a couple hours. Take water and what ever possibles you want.
Nothing but beach, shells, and birds.
Cool trip, especially for a small group.
