Wow. Just... wow. $41/foot for a trail easement in a suburban backyard? Now that the word's out I'm sure that's what people will expect. I didn't know that the H-STC had joined the money club, but I guess that's what happens when people hire consultants. So the 140 mile Horse-Shoe Trail is worth $30,307,200. Way less than a Presidential helicopter. So I guess that's about right! :D
If conservation easements can be secured to protect it in its entirety, the good guys win! The alternative is a discontinuous trail which once stretched from Valley Forge to the A.T.
Maybe people who have the desire, talent, commitment and wherewithal to make it happen will prevail. Some easements might be donated. Who's knows what's possible?
