Given all the rain that the south has been getting lately, Ms. Janet has found a great deal on a huge tent to be set up in the campground area... Since hikers had helped out the tent company previously they have offered to provide us w/ a huge tent for 5-days including delivery, set up, and take down for only $400, thats 66% off!!!! But we need to find someone/group to sponsor said tent.

We also need christmas lights/rv lights and a generator if we are able to find a sponsor for the tent.

This would be a great Hiker Hangout place if the weather is as soggy as this week has been.

I am by no means trying to strike down your idea but somethings you may wanna think about. If you have lights and a generator you are adding more noise along with the drum circle. Generators are loud and you may run the risk of upsetting some people. I am by no means trying to take anything away from where you are going with the idea. Im just thinking about the people that are camping within earshot of you guys and having to listen to a generator all night.
I do like your idea of having a tent set up if you can get that worked out. I really hope it works out on the short notice. If I had money to give, Id put in towards it.

this is a much bigger tent, would be set up near the bonfire....
generator is only needed because the tent would need some lighting and we don't know what power if any we will have out there.

10 day forecast for damascus looks good. no need for a 40x60 tent. rain is part of camping anyway

IMO you are asking for added trouble with a generator. If you are near the fire why would you need more light?? I am not trying to diss you and Miss Janet's idea, just understand that the drum circle is already a big issue and if you throw in dance floors and light and generators, you may be asking for a bit more trouble.

I was at a Jefferson Airplane concert in Central Park (seems like just a few yrs ago) when it started to pour. Someone started to unroll a parachute, lots of people held up the edges, the rest gathered underneath. It was great!

No trouble, because there will be no generator. Miss Janet has already asked about running an electric cord out of the reps area, in case some lights are needed, and that might work except for someone tripping over it every 17 seconds. We try to keep all the electrical stuff in the area where the manufacturers' representatives are set up.

Awesome. Again I was not trying to put the idea down. I like the idea, just trying to think about everyone. I think its a good idea. Thanks Local, Gaiter and esp Miss Janet for trying to put as much fun into TD's for everyone! You all rock!

the tent shouldn't be "sponsored"

The hikers don't need a tent. Most of them already have one. Why not go to the Town Park and take part in the festivities instead. Dots and Fatties have inside seating and plumbing plus electricity. Enjoy a cold beer or milk and and a good meal. Don't waste money on a big tent that the hikers would not appreciate anyway.

I will donate the money for a barb wire fence to put around the tent then we can take turns using tasers on the hippies.

I used to have a parachute that I used for lots of fun activities with children when I was student teaching. Wish I still had it.

All you older generation long beards and such can go slink back to your little ole tents in the rain and enjoy your own company if you insist...

But some of us actually come to Trail Days to spend time with friends. The rain is always a big part of Trail Days and you can find me all wet at any hour of the day or night. The idea of a BIG meeting space in the campground was to offer a place to sit around just a little dryer!

The idea for a sponsor was to give a BUSINESS a chance to use the sponsorship as an advertising opportunity. Many spent this much $$ to place a small ad in the program!

And it just might be FUN!!! (Look up the definition if you have forgotten what this is!)

... and you guys can come visit if you want to!
