Hello all,
Was supposed to do the SNP section from Rockfish Gap to Manassas Gap starting on May 23-24. Unfortunately my partner had knee surgery and is not yet fully recovered. I'm still thinking of doing the section as I don't mind hiking solo but I was wondering if any of you might be doing this section as well and maybe we could meet for a night or two.
Also curious if anyone would like to share transportation. I have a ride down to Rockfish Gap with room for one or two more but have yet to finalize a ride back to Baltimore from Manassas Gap. I do have someone meeting me for a night at Big Meadows to resupply and have a relaxing evening at the fancy campsites (read: shower) and to grab a few brews.
Let me know if you'll be out either way!

Just an FYI, I am starting in Rockfish gap on the morning of the 23rd. I am going to from there to Harpers Ferry on a 2 week hike. Friday night I am staying with the woman in a hotel in Waynesboro, grabbing an early breakfast and hitting the trail. She is driving back to PA when I depart. I planned on going solo for SNP and then meeting my brother in Front Royal on the 29th but wouldnt mind a companion for a day or two. I am not in trail shape but going to do 15 mpd in order to hit FR by the end of day on the 29th. I am very much up for beers at one of the campsites or where ever they serve them or even grabbing a six and taking it to camp. On the first day I may only do a 10 mile so I dont over do it then 15 or just over all the rest of the week.
P.S. I wont be much help for a shuttle as it stands now.

Sounds good. As I get the details worked out I'll get in touch with you and maybe we can meet up for a lil bit. If you need ny info on the trail north of Mannassas Gap, let me know... I did that section in the fall and we had an AWESOME trip. Are you resupplying in SNP at all?
Looks like I got a ride back to Baltimore now but the ride to Rockfish might be too far for my mom to drive. Anyone have an idea of how long this drive is? (Baltimore to Rockfish Gap). I might be able to get her to take me to Leesburg and get a ride from there (any idea how long that might be?). Either way, I'll figure the whole ride situation out.
I'll PM ya in a week or so and maybe meet up somewhere along the trail. It should be a great time to be out.
Not resupplying in SNP per say, I plan on eating at waysides and Big Meadows and taking some food from camp stores and such. I think I may take like 3 days of food with me then taking cash to buy some of that expensive food, at least I'll try. I am planning my logistics now so I could figure out when I will be passing food areas.

Well I got all the transportation figured out. I hit the trail Sunday the 24th in the afternoon and will not get picked up until Tuesday the 2nd in Linden. I will have to haul some ass to catch u! Once I get in the heart of the park I'm probably gonna fool around and blue blaze a little.
