View Full Version : Boots/Shoes
My feet are killing me! What is everyone wearing on their feet? Hiking shoes, tennis shoes, boots, waterproof (does it matter).
I was wearing Northface Hedgehogs but after a few 20 mile days, I have decided the toe box is two small. I think I will try something different, any ideas?
running shoes a 1/2 size too big
Keep your nails trimmed as far back as possible and try on some of the top brands to find the one that gives you the toe room your feet need.
Vasque
Salomon
Merrell
Montrail

Start now and you'll be thanking me in a month
I suggest reading up on your own on the benefits of going barefoot and how awful shoes are for posture, injuries, etc and you'll start to see why it makes sense.
It seems insane looking at them, no support etc, but I assure you you'll be blown away.

shoes...lafuma makes a nice trail runner/hiker...my north face prophecy's are nice too...
Also, go pick up a Men's Health this month (June issue). Very good article in there on the benefits of going barefoot, and one of the editors that had serious knee issues from running that went barefoot finally on a doctor's advice had his life-long debilitating issues vanish

My husband wore boots for years and this year switched to Merrill trail runners. He's been happy with them BUT when we did a long day hike this past weekend over a lot of rocks he said that he'd go back to boots for hiking over rocks. The runners were letting his feet get too beat up and sore.
So far I'm loving my new Keens. I usually have a problem with toe boxes being too small and the Keens seem to be fitting me good. I only have about 65-75 miles on them, but each time a I wear them they get more comfortable.

Trail runners one size bigger. :)
Brooks adrenaline ASRs because I pronate.
Seems like most trend torward the trail runners. I would agree, correct sizing would be important and from what I can tell, most hiking shoes do not come in 1/2 sizes. The runners might offer 1/2 sizes which could help.
Thanks for the advice
