View Full Version : Hiker Picnic in the Shenandoahs May 30

Hey WBers in the neighborhood, :sun

Skipper and I will be having a Hiker Picnic at the Smith Roach Gap parking lot (near Hightop Hut) this Saturday, May 30th, from noon until around 6 PM to greet any long distance hikers on the trail to our neck of the woods. Any WBers want to come out, PM me or just come on out. If you can bring some soda and munchies or a pack of hot dogs, that would be good too. Not sure how many will be passing by, but we'll be there anyway to say hello.

I'll miss you by 2 days - I'm heading to HighTop Thursday (day after tomorrow) for what's likely my last trail maintenance trip. On Saturday, I'm moving - too far away from PATC land to continue maintaining the section.

I'll certainly miss having SNP a few hours away after hiking there for 35 years.

GREAT! I was going to do some hiking this weekend anyway and I'm not far from the area (Orange County). I'll try to make it up and say hello.

Up in the park today, surrounded by moms and their babies (a turkey and chick and a doe and fawn) while putting up a couple notices in huts about the hiker picnic tomorrow. Weather looks great, so come on down (or up).

BTW, Smith Roach Gap is at milepost 68.8 on the Skyline Drive.

Great day to be on the Mountain because the flatlands are going to be hot.
I was hiking up there last weekend,set up camp on Hightop , but I am on call today for work.

Drats ! Pager just went off . Maybe some other time.
