View Full Version : Buying Used Hiking Gear
I own a buy, sell, or swap shop and am looking for good backpacking gear like packs, tents, headlamps, stoves, saws.......but no clothing.
I am willing to pay a fair price, keep in mind that I will be reselling these items. So if you have anything for sale, please PM me or you can call me at 276-475-3470 between the hours of 10 am to 10 pm.
My name is Larry.

I'm still using my old gear. You wouldn't want it anyways. Sgt Rock told me my gear was so old, the first-aid kit had leeches in it!

I made an offer to you and if you do not think it a fair offer then you need to haggle with me or tell me that your price is set, then i will decide whether i think it a good deal and if i don't then i will may make another offer.........anyway in my business i haggle and most people cannot do that.........lets see how fast you sell that pack at your price....?

just a further note, that pic that you posted of the osprey looks like a pic of a new bag and not one that has been used for two years.......

It's obviously a stock photo broseph, might want to get that prescription checked. He never claimed that was a pic of the pack.

Don't mind our marxist sister, TOW. You should know that profits are evil. Anyone who needs an income should just get a government job, right Cuffs?

I consider Cuffs a sister and she can has a right to say what she wants and to see things as she likes....
I got to thinking last night about being more specific about what I am looking for, so right now what I am really interested in are head lamps.

I was just at Lowe's and they had baseball caps with LEDs built in for $16.99. I'm getting one.

I've sold some very old hiking gear like kelty packs....
That's hitting BTB TOW, I have my Kelty Tioga that I bought back in the early 70s, and it's still wearing like iron.:D:D.
I do have a SD tent but it's missing the fly, tent pins and carrying sack.
I revapamed some poles that work okay. You think you can move it?:-?
Okay, everyone I have went my budget for right now, I have a kayak and about 5 packs coming in tomorrow.
I will post again as soon as I have more funds available, I am still looking for head lamps like Priceton Tech and so on.......
weird reading this thread.....
I'll admit, when it comes to parting with my "experienced gear", first choice for me is give it to a friend, followed by trade to a friend, sell to a friend, and sell to everyone else. "I", first person singular, feel "best" [purely comparative metric] when I see a need within the gear systems of a friend or trail buddy, and am able to offer the perfect item or gadget, gratis, as in "The Universe wanted ME to know that, at THIS time and in THIS place, you needed THIS 'thingamabob of the gods', and unto you I hereby bequeath it unto you in service of ""The Quest"" ". WOW. Next in internal coolness is the simple "Ooh Shiny! Trade'ya?", followed by "what of my meager worldly possessions can I POSSIBLY offer in exchange for THAT", and "Nah, I'd rather have two of THOSE". Last, of course, is "yeah, I'll just keep walking" and no action at all.
I picked up two headlights, 3 white/1 yellow LED, big honking things took 3 AA batteries, think I paid $3 each plus $5 to ship to me. Waterproof membrane switch on the side, you've probably seen it. Anyway, I gave one to a guy at work, who wouldn't pay $14 to try out a headlamp from Wally World, and it felt very cool :sun to be able to do so. He loved his, and I still have one left. I'd give it to you for shipping alone, if I didn't have to find a container and detour past a post office - in a futile gesture of complete laziness. I'll make you an offer: If I were to come down towards GSMNP, could you meet me somewhere, buy me a beer and my two sons an ice cream apiece, and I'll give it to you, to do with as you please, batteries not included?
See? Now, it doesn't feel so wierd, does it? Frame of Reference. What you remember is The Tale, the rest is Detail. :-?
Thanks,

Anyone ever looking for a new in the box (but still two years old) MSR Whisperloud, er, Whisperlite? Bought one a while back but couldn't make the leap from alcohol stoves in the end.

I may be selling some of my old gear very soon- I'm about to do a bit of major gear shopping for next year's thru, and it would be awesome to make a bit of the money back by selling some old stuff.
Do you ever buy sleeping bags? I'm not sure about selling mine (because I love it) but I might... I also have headlamps, stuff sacks, etc... But as I said, I have to evaluate all my gear first.
