I was working on a LWBPing work shop when I re-discovered this scan in my files.
I love the Willie and Joe comics. Seems like the uniforms and equipment may change, but the grousing remains the same. :)
My grandfather was in the 45th division as an infantryman..same division that Mauldin originally served in as well. A little insight into what Pop may have thought at times...

I LOVE Willie and Joe. My father was in the infantry in Italy during WWII also. One big muddy, bloody, cold, wet slugfest that was mostly forgotten by the public after the invasion of Normandy.

Oh, I meant to say that I never got to go camping as a kid because the old man REFUSED to sleep outdoors or in a tent. Said he got enough of it in Italy.
Willie and Joe are definitely primary source documents for future historians. I had the entire compilation of their comics at one time. Great reading.
