I am seeking advice on preparing for a 4 day trip to Shining Rock, Im pretty well physically fit, I have had some pretty good hiking experence, but the last time i hiked shining rock I was probally 13, i havent really been outside of mississippi for oh about the last 5 years just finished the tuxachanie and black creek 2 and 5 months ago respectively, need help with planning any help would be welcome

My son and I are hiking there in a couple of weeks but only doing around 12 miles in 3 days. He's 13 so I didn't want to kill him (at least while hiking :-) ).
Get a copy of the National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map of the Pisgah Ranger District. Great map for this area.
