I just read a book titled "The Appalachian Trail: A Journey of Discovery" by Jan D. Curran, written about his hike from Springer to around the mid-point of the trail. His hike was in the middle 80's, and he was planning to hike the second half of the trail the next year. Two questions: 1) Did he hike the rest of the trail the next year, and 2) If yes, did he write another book about it? Any info appreciated.
