So, I just won a $1000 travel package from AAA, meaning that if I arrange any kind of trip thru them, they'll pay $1000 of the costs (airfare, rental car, hotels etc...). I can do anything I want... I just got back from the Grand canyon, Bryce and Zion two weeks ago, so I only have 1.5 weeks of vacation left. Any suggestion on a great trip for me to do in the next year? (i live in the SE, so i'm thinking of going out west somewhere...haven't really been out there too much).

Go west young man!!! You just got back from some fabulous places, any of which would be worth a return trip. If it were me, I would choose Yosemite NP at the end of May. The high country has opened up, there is lots of water in all the falls, and the crowds have not yet descended. Glacier NP is also fabulous.

Good luck and have fun.

Agree, but I do have a longing to return to the Cascades of Washington. Well, I aso have a thing about the Little Big Horns. Well, ah, never mind.

I love the city of San Francisco, and if I had a $1000 to blow, I'd do it there (might last a few days). It's my favorite urban area for hiking, too. Yosemite and Lake Tahoe are nearby (by Western standards) and have great trails if you get your fill of the city.

If you hope to thru the AT next year, you'd better spend that money this year. Congratulations on the prize, and have great fun.

Ahh, so many great places to go. So little time.
Some of my favorites: Glacier NP, Yosemite, Tahoe, Vancouver, Mt Robson (BC), Seattle area and Mt Ranier, Northern CA and Redwoods, New Orleans, Austin TX, AZ, Salt Lake area, Panhandle of ID, Vegas, Calgary, all in America.

If you are allowed to include Europe, i would think about: Amsterdam, Paris, Prague, Croatia, Alps.

Worldwide, the list gets enless.

Enjoy your prize. Good idea to research it carefully.

I tend to agree with Garlic and littlelaurel that SanFran and Yosemite are great choices. The area in and around Yosemite is great! I might also look into doing something in Alaska since I have never been there, maybe a cruise or something.

go back to Utah. You only tapped into a small part. There are more national parks worth seeing. You will need a 4-wheel drive to get to some of them.
