Hi, i am speaking to fellow hikers that hiked the OLP trail. Do you have a perference in which direction you hike on the loop? If so why? Thanks!

Either way is good. Probably the climbs are steeper heading clockwise from Masten, particularly the climb from Long Run up to Sullivan Mtn. Regardless, not a tough trail, but very scenic. Take time to enjoy the views from Sullivan Mtn and the beauty of Rock Run.

IIRC There are better camping options based on when you will hit the campsites if you go counter clockwise. Out of Masten on my first trip through, I went Counterclockwise - I was not payng attention, saw the first blaze on the old rail tracks and started going. 30 minutes later it dawned on me that I was going clockwise - Opposite of what I planned. Made for more of an impromptu trip.

I made the hike taking a three day weekend. Saturday was wet but the other days were perfect. I ended up going clockwise. Beautiful hike for those that have a chance to enjoy it.
