Assuming you are in reasonable shape, should take 8-10 days or so (YMMV). One of my favorite sections in '94. Should be able to resupply at the hostel (standing bear I think its called) in Davenport gap, at least to get you to Hot Springs. Or you can just pack enough (4-5 days or so) to get to Hot Springs. From there its an easy 4-5 day to Erwin.

You should only need 1 resupply point during that stretch. That would be in Hot Springs. The trail goes right down main street, so resupply will be easy. Starting off your hike, you are probably looking at 5-6 days Clingman's to Hot Springs, then 4-5 days HS to Erwin.

I am assuming you are coming in on I-40, or flying into Knoxville airport. Getting through Gatlingburg and up to Clingman's Dome during the summer is always an adventure. Plan on starting from the Dome around noon. You are likely only going to get to Icewater Shelter that first night (about 8 miles). It could be a tough push to make it all the way to Peck's Corner that first day.

The drive up the mountain from the Cherokee side is a bit easier as there are fewer people entering the park from that side. If you are flying into Atlanta or Ashville airport, that would be a better option for you.

clarification on previous post.. dont be suprised if it takes you until noon to get to Clingman's Dome parking lot due to amount of traffic coming up from Gatlinburg side.
