Hi folks,

It originally looked like my wife and I wouldn't get to hike a new section of the AT this year. Well, life has a way of changing when you least expect it and so now we'll be able to get away. We'd like to hike Hanover, NH to Franconia Notch, NH. Can anyone steer us toward safe and secure parking at either end of that section? I've been trying to call the Darmouth Outing Club to see what they have to say but only get their prerecorded menus. Everyone there must be on vacation.

In the two times I have left a car in Franconia Notch I did not have any problems. Jack Tarlin did post the phone number for info on Hanover parking here...

There is a staffed campground on the west side of Franconia notch at Laffayette place (a couple of miles north of the the AT crossing of I 93). The actual parking lot near the crossing is a bit more remote, I havent heard of any significant issues, but it would be easier for someone to smash and grab.

Let's see. I'm about 40 minutes over the hills and through the woods to Franconia Notch. Depending upon your schedule, we might be able to arrange for you to leave your vehicle here and I drop you off at a trail head in/near the notch. I could even then meet you at the end of the hike so you wouldn't have to do an in-and-out. Send me a PM with details if you are interested.

I am also not that far from Hanover and would be willing to do the same for you. Just PM me and we can work out the details.
