Anybody have info on resupply/maildrops for the Tuscarora? Am looking to do this on my SOBO section from DWG>Springer this fall.
Good for you for considering other routes!
I THINK the store in Spring Run, PA has reopened (corner of PA 641 and PA 75, just west of a roadwalk section of trail), but surely the Path Valley Family Restaurant on the same corner will stick some meat back on your bones.

This trail journal has much good info: http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?trailname=5400

"The Tuscarora Trail is closed from the Junction of PA74 at Polecat Road to the next public access at Colonel Denning State Park. Although the trail extends northbound from Colonel Denning Park through the Tuscaora State Forest and beyond, there is no public access to that segment except through the state park and state forest."

While this is true, there is a detour. I spoke with Pete the maintainer (sp?) for the PA section. take 74 North instead of south and take first road on left. It follows a creek. Take that all the way to end and there is a footpath that goes to McClures gap. Not too bad. The trail is really overgrown once you get south of tuscarora state forest right now also. But, great trail.

My son and I hiked the 3.5 miles from Hemlock Rd. > Fowlers Hollow Run last night (all inside Tuscarora St. Forest). The trail is well blazed but also well overgrown. Both our legs are tore up by prickers (I/we need gaiters) and at times we walked thru waist high overgrowth. It was so bad that we decided to do 5 miles out this morning via Fowlers Hollow Trail > Twig Trail > Hemlock Rd just so we could avoid the prickers.
