I'll be doing a section hike over Wildcat and the Carter Range in the Whites in two weeks.
I vaguely remember reports from a couple of years ago that the trail from Carter Notch to Moriah was overgrown. Does anyone have an update?

it was ok last year. now the mudholes were a different story. they were huge
I got back from the trip a few days ago. The trail from Moriah to Carter Notch was in very good condition, despite the heavy rains. There are more than 200 plank bridges across wet areas, and while there was no shortage of bridge-less mud as well, all areas could be negotiated without difficulty. There wasn't much trailside brush--just a 0.5 mile section between South and Middle Carter which was a bit narrow.
The Wildcat Ridge trail was less wet but will likely need some brush work in another 2-3 years.
