Heya, looking for someone who can make me a silnylon (or spinnaker) tarp with beaks on either end. There are millions of tarps out there without beaks but not too many with them.

If anyone one here is accomplished at sewing tarps I would be very interested in hearing from you. I don't have a problem paying good money, it would also be good to see some of your work if possible.

PM me if you can help!

Cheers

Thanks for that but to be quite frank I've contacted Oware a few times and they haven't gotten back to me on anything so finding them somewhat useless to attempt to do business with.

Maybe it's just me...

Try Brian at OES. He made a tarp out of SpinnUL that I love! I heard he does custom work and the craftmanship is awesome.

Get a kit from Ray Jardine. Anyone can sew.

I would rather pay someone to make something for me, I don't have time to learn how to sew.

Why beaks? Because I prefer them to open ends

To be fair, if the OP had posted "can someone make me...." in the General Gear Forum" inevitably someone else would have suggested to try the "Homemade gear forum " 'cause someone there provably would/could make one of those at home.

Just for fun, here (http://img198.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=stealth01b.jpg) are some pics of the tarp I built back in 2006. I didn't find beaks to be enough protection, so I made mine into mini-vestibules.

I started with Henry's tarptent (http://www.tarptent.com/projects/tarpdesign.html), but heavily modified it for my own purposes.

This was my second sewing "project", the first one was just a single-seamed tarp. It just takes time.

This is a great idea, a few more ounces so the rain doesn't get sideways to your set up.

You may also want to look into a tipi, pyramid or umbrella style tarp. They are capable of blocking horizontal rain without beaks.
