I'm in the midst of making a tarptent and today I was going to start sewing using a sewing machine. Unfortunatly, the machine I have is about 75 years old and isn't working anymore...:(
So, is it possible to sew a tarptent by hand? If so, what stitch would you use? Thanks for any help.

Egads, if you pull this off you will earn a lot of respect from me, that's for sure!
Personally, I made mine with the $80 Brother I got from Wal*Mart. I see used machines all the time at the second hand shops for twenty to thirty bucks, if you want to save a few dollars.

How is it "not working?" Our old machine wasn't working well -- the tension was bad and it would just jam the thread -- but a careful cleaning and oiling did the trick.
If you can sew a tarptent by hand, you are a natural wonder.

Ok...i guess sewing by hand isn't really an option. I'm going to look at the old sewing machine again and check out some thrift stores for a cheap one. Thanks!
