I'm looking to take a week long hike from Harper's Ferry in late August or September. Wondering whether it cold and/or rainy at some point.
As a bonus question, how crowded is the trail. I sometimes get the impression you'll be passing people all the time.

nice, not too crowded. pass one ot two a day, on weekend maybe more.

You're in DC? The potential for cold/rain will be the same as it is in DC

Agree, good time to go. Be prepared for some cool condtions and rain (esp if there are any tropical systems coming through), along with warm or even hot, it just depends.
