I have been fighting to knock off a section of the AT either the southern or northern part of MA that I have not done. Think I found a plan...if

Says in the guidbook that hikers might be able to use the parking lot at the church in Cheshire....Is that still viable, should I call Father Dave Raymond before I show up or wait till I get there.

Going to make it simple, and although I hate to do out and backs I am going to.

Cheshire MA late start on thursday, 5 miles to Mark Noepel Lean to, Friday 16.7 miles to Seth Warner Lean to (1st shelter in vermont) Saturday Seth Warner back to Wilbur Clearing Lean to 9.9 miles. And out on sunday 11.7 miles back to the car.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Answered my own questions with a google search and a phone call...Parking is available at the church in Cheshire...they ask that you park all the way from the building and if no one is there to leave the name, dates and license plate number for them.

Should be good to go, no shuttling required.

If you can't get out this year my hiking partner and I are planning to continue our northbound assault from Cheshire next spring - probably in May sometime.

I will keep that in mind...I am changing back to my original plan of going from Sages Ravine to Goose Pond RD...That way I have the whole southern MA section done. Then all I need is Cheshire to the VT line which is short and I'm thinking of doing an out and back with a few nice times to be on Greylock, one being sunrise.

I don't know why you want to do the same stretch twice, especially climbing Greylock both ways! And watch out at Seth Warner.....as of very recently, there was resident bear who shows no fear of people.

I hate doing out and backs, but when I started this thread I had no other options...now I have a drop off ride near Sages Ravine and I'm going to get picked up where I started last June at Goose Pond Rd, right before Upper Goose Pond Cabin.

Should probly close this baby down:D
