Getting Back After Mt. Katahdin

I'm getting ready to going solo and hiking from the Delaware Water Gap to Maine in the next day or 2. Everything is set and hopefully by myself I can cover some real ground considering my endurance is as good as it ever will be.

That being said, I was wondering; Once I reach the Northern Summit of the A.T......

how do I get back without assistance from say a family member picking me up? Is there a nearby town I can hitch to or taxi to where I can take a Greyhound or Train Back down south(nyc for example)?

Any information would be appreciated.

hitched from katahdin to erwin twice in the past. 2-3 days tops. stayed near the trail while hitching and when evening was approaching i jumped on the trail or stayed in a trail town.
