My wife and I walked from Sam's Gap to Erwin this past weekend. I wanted to say a big thanks to the Carolina Mountain Club and in particular the members of the Friday trail maintenance crew that we met. These guys do a great job in that section!

We met them on their lunch break and they invited us up to High Rocks to see the efforts they've put in to repair the trail up to the top, and have also cleared some trees to restore the view.

If you're at High Rocks, take a pack break and go up top, it's a great stop and the rocks have depressions in them that make perfect napping spots....

Your welcome from TEHCC. We (mostly retirees not including me) maintain from Spivey Gap to Erwin. Not the most scenic section though except for the views of the Nolichucky.

The section from Spivey Gap to Erwin looks like it was a real challenge in the past year or so, with fire and many, many blowdowns to clear. Good job.
