I have no idea where to post this, but I just wanted to inform those that like photos of signs entering into the different states that I would enlighten you and tell you of my experience. In my section hike this August I was heading southbound over the Ledyard bridge from Hanover, NH to Norwich, VT at about 3 PM. Since I always face traffic when walking on a roadway, I and my group of 5 were naturally on the southside of the bridge walkway. Of course the only indication of NH/VT was in the middle of the bridge engraved in the concrete on the northside walkway. So now our whole group to do a little celebration had to jump over two guardrails and dodge heavy mid-day traffic to get our state border photo. The photo of us hurdling guardrails was probably more amusing than the state border photo. This probably was a stupid thing to do but no worse than jumping over the fence at Holts Ledge to look over the cliffs edge. (No signs at this time of year prohibiting going here (Holts Ledge that is) because of nesting falcons.) There are enough incidents of fatalities on this bridge over the CT River without more over trying to get stupid photos. So let it be known - use the north bridge walkway! While on the subject of Hanover - the trail is horrendously marked along the streets of Hanover. I was amazed that day how many lost thru-hikers there were asking directions of where does the trail go thru town. It is amazing how many locals are clueless.
