TN Viking,

Great photo!!

I saw more wildlife section hiking the Florida Trail in a day than I saw in 2000 miles of the AT. Great trail for dayhikes, section hikes....but thruhiking requires a lot of courage.

Great photo, although with the advent of photoshop you have to wonder...

I don't think that pic is from FL, but, it could have easily been. I forget whose pic it is and they told me it was from Australia or somewhere.

That's a good photo. People always talk about the gators but there is an amazing number of snakes when you hike the FT.

That would have been me. My wife saw it on an Aussie blog.

I knew it was one of the FL WBers.

Yeah, I'm ready for some FT hiking when it cools off a little. A friend of mine wants to go looking for the Bardin Booger over by Etoniah. Maybe we could have a FL get Together and spend the night at Iron Bridge.

Where Big Foot spends the night when he wants to get inside.

Good area of FT is around the Aucilla River (between Tallahassee and Perry on HWY 98) if you are interested in the panhandle...plenty of wildlife, remote section, etc. Just be careful about going during hunting season.

I love that picture. I had to print it out and hang it with my other crazy wild life photos. Some reason I kept expecting one of the gators golding a bottle of Tabasco Sauce. would be great advertisement.

I have been considering a section hike aroun thefirst of December. Maybe the Florida Trail will be in the playing cards. I just need to kno wthe best place to go as I will be coming by bus and have to....uhhh.... walk.

We'll pick you up.

Chief, that area with all the topography is Torreya State Park. I still want to do that. Red Fish, that other section sounds good.

Here's a map of the Torreya State Park. Some back country camping. The Family Camping Area is nice, too. The Gregory House is a restored pre-Civil War Mansion with daily tours.

Thanks Gray. I'm game as soon as we drop below the 80's. Ahhh, topography, so rare here!

Graywolf, I recommend the sections along the Suwannee - beautiful, wild, but accessable. Lots of swimming holes and swinging ropes, too.
