Have any of you bought this http://www.rayjardine.com/ray-way/Tarp-Kit/index.htm Or the Net Tent Kit? If you have did you put it together and was it easy to do? Did it work well for you when you used it, is it hard to set up or some what simple like using a regular Tarp? I would like to get some opinions and thoughts on this. Thank you

So I take it none of you have this or have used one. Kinda odd being you all talk about this guy. Or is it that it's not a name brand tent/tarp?

There are afew plans for making your own tarptent on thruhiker.net. And since a 8x10 silnyl tarp can be had on Campmor for $70, already assembled, most folks won't bother.

The ray-way quilt is a much more popular item.

The most that would cost in materials is twenty five bucks, and that includes shipping.

Pretty basic as far as sewing goes, too, just a ridge, a hem, and a few tie-outs.

The money you save goes to buy more material and netting and other notions for your next project, too.

I use the 2 person tarp. Its almost too big for one person ( just kidding ). I talked my sister into sewing it. She did not seem to have any issues with it. I also have the kit for the net tent but I have not been able to get it "sewed". I live in AZ and don't have the same bug problems that folks on the east coast do, although you may want to take a look at my pictures.

The tarp works well, it has been through one deluge, but it doesn't rain that much here.

You may want to consider this,http://www.tarptent.com/contrail.html . By the time you get / make the tarp, create a bug net, search for a piece of tyvek, you will essentially have an overbuilt tarptent. Check out the weights, do the math. I am giving it some heavy thought.

Something to consider.
