We are heading out for 4 days backpacking and my girlfriend is really wanting to pack a Red Bull with her. I have never packed a carbonated beverage so I have no idea if it would work, or just explode. Anyone ever tried this?

Would probably work ( as in not explode) but it would be warm..and warm red bull is terrible, pretty much any warm soda is terrible, cant freeze it before you leave cause that would make it explode and the freezing ruins the taste something about the ice forming separating the carbonated water from the sugar and it not mixing back properly when thawed or something

Red Bull is "lightly carbonated", to quote their advertisments. You could shake one up in a paint mixer and it still wouldn't blow up......just don't forget to bring the Jagermeister to mix it with!

Hell yeah, Jaeger bombs!

Well I think it will be chilly enough at night to keep it cool, she plans to drink it on the second day for a final push up an ascent. Plus she's a Red Bull addict so any time she can have it she will :)

Red Bull is nothing but junk calories...but it is good with a little vodka.

If its packed tightly, like a towel wrapped around it, then you should have no probs. And maybe let it sit for a few before opening. Because your soda cans get moved around quite a bit from plant to store. But if its moving and rolling around in a pack, then its going to explode.

Put it in the creek for a bit, or wrap it in a wet bandanna to cool before drinking.

When I need a lift before a long climb, I find a few chocolate covered espresso beans work well.

Yukon- Have your girlfriend stop at any convenience store and pick up one of the new Red Bull shots. They are the same size as the 5 hour energy shots and non-carbonated so no need to worry about fizzy explosions or keeping it cool. They come packaged with a seal so no need to worry about spilling/leaking. I have carried something similar in my school backpack getting bounced around with books and what not and never had any problems. Check it out...

Since I don't like coffee or soft drinks, I take "vitamin V" with me everywhere I go. Packs well too... :D

red bull will be fine. An ex of mine always insisted on packing cokes (1 per day!) they didn't explode, though I laughed at the weight she carried.
