View Full Version : Timber Rattlesnake - SNP
Was hiking on the South River Falls Trail (short blue blaze off the AT) in Shenandoah National Park the other day and came across my first timber rattlesnake. It didn't seem to care that I was there taking a million photos. Really really cool to sit and watch for a while as it slowly searched around for something to eat.

Nah, Marlin Perkins would have sent Jim in to get the photos!

No, Jim would have wrestled the snake into submission, weighed it, tagged it and took it's temperature. He then would release it unharmed.

Yeah quite a few up there in the park. I've done the Suuth River falls trail a lot and never saw one. Interesting.

I think it was around 4-4.5 feet long
