I just got a Speers hammock and I also bought a set of tri-glides from JRB. I tried attaching the webbing like the picture on the tri-glide package but I wrapped the webbing around the trees twice. I got the idea of using two carabiners and adjusting the webbing loop using the Tri-glides to get the length I need. It seems to work ok but I was wondering if it would cause any damage to the webbing? Has anyone tried this?

I use the tri-glides, but I do it backwards. My tri-glide loop is on the hammock side, not the tree side.
I use a carabiner on the tree end of the webbing. Wrap the webbing around the tree one or two or three times, and clip the 'biner. Then make final adjustments to the hang using the tri-glides.
Hint: leave a loop of webbing sticking out of the middle of the tri-glide. This makes adjustments a lot easier. I'll see if I can find a pic to show this.
