What is the weather like in upper MA & lower VT at this time of year, the last week of Oct? Should I expect snow? Usual temps? And how has the water situation been; I know it has been a very wet season where I'm from, but has it been as wet up there, more than usual?

Thanks in advance

I assume they just got snow. I may be wrong, but I thought the news was featuring the snow in NJ and CT.

I was in the Killington area yesterday and there was snow on most of the higher peaks. Temps have been colder than usual throughout the Northeast the last week or so. At a minimum you will likely have below freezing temps at night.

It's been really colder than normal here in north central Mass., but only a dusting of snow.
Be prepared for lows below 20 in MA and southern VT. It'll probably be warmer than this week.
A really useful website is the weather underground, lots of amateur weather stations with real time conditions. If you look around you can usually find a station with conditions similar to the trail/mountains.
For example, Haystack Mt. station at 1850' elevation in Wilmington, VT, low temperature this week 23F, highest temp this week 42F.

Summit of Stratton Mt., 3900', current temp at 332pm 27F.

Actually you want snow this time of year. Rarely is it enough to cause trouble like taking your tent down or making you post hole. All day light snow is much better than light rain as it just falls off everything.

We've had some cold nights down into the teens. A little snow the other day, not much but to where it could be a problem if your on rock/ledge. Water should be fine. Just watch your step in the leaves . Be safe and have fun, It's a Great time to be in the Berkshires.
Enjoy

That's what warm clothes are for. I've done some camping in the Taconics (Mt. Washington State Forest) in Oct. after the leaves were off and it was great. Have fun.
