Best wishes to all my friends at Whiteblaze; hope the rest of your summer is great.
Leaving Hanover tomorrow, hope to be in Caratunk or more likely Monson tomorrow night; will be hiking southbound with a good friend thru most of Maine and all of New Hampshire, hoping to be back in Hanover some time in early October in order to catch a ride to the ALDHA Gathering in West Virginia.
Should be an interesting trip this year as we both have some rather demanding leg issues going on; we're not goin' for BIG miles, just GOOD ones, and I'm looking forward to the trip very much. Am also looking forward to knocking off about 30 pounds as I'm getting tired of the Michael Moore comparisons, which is about as bad as it can get. On the other hand, I get to miss 40 days of the presidential campaign, which frankly, is something of a blessing. Maybe in 40 days, the president will tell us why we really went into Iraq, Kerry will stop shoveling the horse flap about his "seared" memories from illegally serving in Cambodia, and both gemtlemen will actually have started talking about issues. (Yeah, and maybe I come outta the woods to discover that McCain and Guiliani are running together as independents, but I'm not gonna hold my breath!)
I also hope to see many of you in Caratunk for the Whiteblaze Gathering in mid-September. It should be a great time, and it's a perfect time to be in Maine.
Will be checking in periodically whenever I can find a computer, otherwise see all you guys sometime in October, and try and play play nice while I'm gone.
