Hello,

Jokingly asked youngest (Webelos scout) son if he'd like to sleep out New Year's eve, he said sure! Uh oh...Dad now has to step up to the plate. So I'd like to buy, beg, borrow or steal! (j/k on stealing a scout is Trustworthy) a tent rated for 4-seasons.

Doesn't need to be ultralight not that many are but needs to be 4-season rated (3.5 is probably ok as well). Located in Southeastern Mass and we could get snow or 90F weather on New Year's eve you just never now.

Don't have a lot of cash, being a scout volunteer doesn't pay well.

So got that old 4-season collecting dust on the shelves and feel like making room for the new Christmas gear? Let me know! :)

I'm hoping for lots of snow! :)

Let me know thanks for the considerations,
-Stephen

Under those conditions, I'm not sure you'd really need a four-season tent. You might want to look at the sale at GoLite for a ShangriLa-3, though...they say that is a four-season tent, and with the 40% off coupon floating around might be a good deal.

Call Eureka Tent outlet and get a green A-frame Scout tent. Good enough for almost 4 seasons. Order a Class A (minor imperfections and get a better deal).

Since your a scouter, check out http://www.scoutdirect.com/ScoutDirectCurrentSales.htm (http://www.scoutdirect.com/ScoutDirectCurrentSales.htm)

They are the scout side of Alps Mountaineering. Right now they have a 2 man tent on sale for $70.00. It may work for you. You can also go to Alps web site and see what they have, then call for scout prices.

That's my vote by far.

I really don't see there being much need for a 4 season anywhere in the east though. Just my opinion.

You could try renting one from REI. I've never done it personally, but I've heard lots of people on here rave about it. (Actually, they rave about buying the gear that other people have rented because it is apparently really high quality for a really low price. So you could do that too. But they may not be selling any of that now, I don't know)

Got 2 of those but was hoping to get something with heavier walls and stronger dome style for snow.

Last year in 17.5F weather with wind I used a 4man 4-season and noticed a huge difference in what that tent allowed in and what the Eureka does.

Sadly I no longer have that tent.

Mt. Washington in NH is touted as having "the worst weather in the world".
Outside of a mountain environment it probably is not necessary.

I might part with this one:

if I can get $80.00 plus shipping (or you can come here to check it out personally). I've used it about a dozen times over the past eleven years. I sealed all the seams when new and they still seem to be fine. The tent's so strong you could almost sleep on top of it :D. Most of my winter hiking is solo lately and this tent's too nice to hang on to as a "loaner".
Pm me if you're interested. The tent's nearly perfect - no perceptible wear.
