Foothills Trail access question

Tell me about accessing the Foothills Trail from Bad Creek Road. Can you drive to the trail access on Bad Creek Road to the trail parking lot near the Bad Creek office area?

The reason I ask is that the Google street view of the intersection of Whitewater Falls Road (SC Hwy 130) and Bad Creek Road shows a gate at Bad Creek Road. What’s the deal with the gate????

The gate is closed at night for security purposes. Yes, you can drive to a large parking area with a trail access to the FHT. I parked there for my hike last July.

Thanks, however, this Google street view was not a night. This is what concerns me.

During the day the gate opens and closed when it is activated by your vehicle, at night that shut it off and the gate won't open.....I've parked there twice...........very safe.............:)

Sounds like this gate also cuts down on vandalism to the vehicles parked there too. This is looking better.
