Hello Whiteblazers. Just bought a house in Roan Mountain and I'll be relocating there when the weather improves. If you rolled a boulder downhill from Moreland Gap Shelter, it'd probably hit house, hehe. There are some old logging roads just off my back yard, so I'm hoping one of them will intersect the AT. Not really planning a specific hike, just shoutin' out to see who's nearby. Can't wait to explore the area!

isn't that near where you spent a week recovering from foot pain last year sometime. Me, you, DAKS, and Fredmugs kept the stove running pretty hot as I remember. How far did you get northbound?

Welcome to the area. Lots of trailheads nearby. You're welcome to come and do trail maintenance with us sometime.

See you on the trail,

Let us know if you can climb up to the trail from your place. Might be a good maintenance access, if your willing.

Be sure to hit up Bob's Dairyland as soon as you get moved in.

Its gotten friendlier than it used to. Back in the 70s and 80s, Buck Mtn area north of 19E used to be known as THE COMBAT ZONE.

With recent education and relocations away from houses, its gotten a little friendlier. But still got Mr. Bear Branch, valdalizers, ATV'ers, and some others up around Buck Mtn. Hike up through there is ok. Just don't park up there.
