Does anyone have any experience with hammocks like the BYER mosquito Hammock( http://www.ems.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3664469) or other cheaper varieties? They seem to look just as good as anyother 200 dollar setup, although it doesnt come with a tarp and cordage.

The Byer hammock body is shorter than most others. I use one (non-mosquito) with the parachute cords removed and a climbing cord threaded through each end instead. It's just long enough for me at 5' 10". I have another hammock which I purchased at REI which has a hook at each end and no mosquito mesh. I like this better in summer. It's narrower and doesn't wrap around me quite as much as the Byer which makes it cooler in hot weather. I use an ENO bug net over the hammock. I've owned two Traveller Hammocks with bug netting and both of them ripped at the end of the zipper.

Leave the netting at home when you don't need it (see my other pics here).

i have the beyer's with the netting, tinker is right about it being shorter than other hammocks, which takes away from the comfort a little but not too bad. I like the fact that the netting is attached and if you don't want to use it with the net, just flip it over. I also have an ENO double nest which is more comfy, but needs a seperate net whioch adds weight. The beyers is a pretty decent hammock.

The body fabric on mine stretched so much that it wasn't comfortable. I tested it at home and never took it to the field...so I got rid of it. Certainly not as comfortable as the "more expensive" versions, IMO. Or as comfortable as my $3 DIY Speer-type hammocks.
